PESHAWAR, Oct 1: Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah told a 21-member committee of Mahsud tribe that the government would not tolerate acts of terror in their areas , urging the committee to come up with tangible and concrete results rather than prolonging the peace process.

He said the committee should frankly tell the government about its failure as "we are fully prepared to take effective moves against the foreign terrorists". The committee, headed by MNA Maulana Merajuddin, called on the governor here on Thursday evening.

Mr Shah appreciated the committee's objective, however, he regretted that despite efforts the terrorist activities had not shown any let up, which mostly targeted the security forces deployed in the area.

"We cannot afford anymore military losses," the governor said, adding, "the security forces are exercising restraint to facilitate the political process but it does not mean that we remain silent spectators."

Maulana Merajuddin and other participants highlighted the efforts of the committee and assured the governor to continue endeavours to reach a conclusion soon.
