SIALKOT, Sept 30: Daska city remained without electricity the whole night and for several hours on Thursday. The electricity suspension disrupted normal life, commercial and industrial activities.

When contacted, no Daska Gepco official offered comments on the situation.

TWO KILLED: Two people were killed in an accident near Raamkey village on the Sialkot Pasrur Road here on Thursday. Muhammad Iqbal and Zafar Iqbal of Lungey village were on way to Badiana by a motorcycle (GA-5654) for paying electricity bill. An overloaded and speeding Mazda wagon crushed them near Raamkey. They died on the spot. Badiana police have registered a case against the absconding driver.

BOY'S KILLING: A bullet fired by drug trafficker Zafar Iqbal alias Pappu hit and killed a 10-year-old boy in Naikapura locality on Wednesday. This was stated by Sialkot DPO Nisar Ahmad Saroya at a press conference here on Thursday.

The DPO said a preliminary inquiry found that the boy was not killed by the bullet fired by police. He said constables Mubashar Butt and Javed of Naikapura police station were on patrol in the area when Zafar saw them. He opened fire on the policemen and a stray bullet hit Amjad who was passing by there.

It may be recalled that the family of the child had taken out a rally and besieged the Naikapura police station late night in protest against police failure to register a case against their colleagues.

The DPO said the grieved family claimed that the child was killed by the bullets fired by the constables. However, the Naikapura police had registered a case against both the constables, he added. Meanwhile, the boy was buried in the afternoon in his native graveyard.
