KARCHI: Scattered showers in city

Published September 28, 2004

KARACHI, Sept 27: The people of North Karachi and Federal B Area welcomed scattered showers on Monday afternoon, especially when mercury had risen to 36.2 degrees Centigrade.

Residents of North Karachi and Federal B Area said that their surprise knew no bounds when it suddenly rained in the afternoon as the sun shone bright. They said that rains had defied the met office which had predicted that Monday would be a dry day.

An official of the Pakistan Meteorological Department told Dawn that such scattered showers were not reported by his organization. "This was an isolated phenomenon, which occurred in an area where the Meteorological Department does not have its rain gauges. As far as we are concerned, it did not rain in Karachi," he said.
