ISLAMABAD, Sept 21: Chief Election Commissioner Irshad Hasan Khan on Tuesday reminded lawmakers to submit their yearly statements of assets and liabilities by Sept 30.

Members of parliament and provincial assemblies are legally required to submit their personal statements of accounts as well as their statements of accounts of their spouses and dependents.

"This is a mandatory requirement under Section 42A of the Representation of the People Act, 1976 and Section 25A of the Senate (Election) Act," the CEC said. These statements of assets and liabilities would be published by the commission in the official gazette, the copies of which could be obtained on payment of a prescribed fee.
