SANGHAR: Robbers at large

SANGHAR, Sept 21: Police are clueless about Rs3 million robbery which took place on Sindhri-Khipro road, near Tagoosar, on Monday when the money was being shifted from the Mirpurkhas branch of the United Bank Limited to its Khipro branch.

A robbery case has been registered under section 399-34 of the Pakistan Penal Code and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act. The DPO told journalists that the involvement of the bank staff in the robbery could not be ruled out.

The bank staff had violated the security rules while transferring the amount, information gathered by this correspondent revealed. Usually armoured vehicles are used for shifting such amounts but in this case the amount as shifted from Mirpurkhas in an ordinary jeep.

According to another rule, an officer, a cashier and a gunman are required for shifting of such a huge amount but in this case an officer was missing. Sources in banks said that in this case, the UBL could not claim the insurance of the looted amount because of violations of the rules.
