SUKKUR: Two women killed in attack

SUKKUR, Sept 21: Two women were killed and three injured when two rival factions of the Jatoi tribe clashed near the Dr Ibrahim Jatoi village in the Rustum area of Shikarpur district on Tuesday.

The two factions, one led by Ghazi and other by Jhando, have been fighting for several years over a dispute related to a karo-kari incident. On Tuesday, the Ghazi group launched an armed attack on the Jhando group which led to an exchange of fire between them.

As a result Malookan, wife of Atta Mohammad Jatoi, and Zuhra, wife of Fazal, were killed on the spot and Sharma, Haseena and Hayat Khatoon injured. Tension has gripped the area after the killing of two women of the Jhando group as both the groups have entrenched against each other. Police force were called in the area and patrolling was intensified.

ROBBERY: Four armed dacoits snatched a motorcycle, mobile phone and Rs3,800 cash from a local journalist, Mubarak Bhatti, near Thul on Tuesday.

ACCIDENT VICTIMS: Seven out of 10 bodies of the victims of Sunday night's bus accident were taken away by their relatives from here to Alipur (Punjab) on Tuesday.

On the instructions of Sukkur District Naib Nazim Iqbal Dawood, remaining three bodies were buried in a local graveyard as amanat because their condition was worsening. The naib nazim participated in the burial and later, visited those injured in the accident in the Civil Hospital.
