BAHAWALPUR: Nominated accused shot dead

BAHAWALPUR, Sept 17: An alleged nominated accused in a murder attempt on PPP (Parliamentarian) former leader was shot dead in broad daylight at Gur Mandi area behind Jamia Masjid on Friday.

According to police, Zeeshan alias Shikra was sitting on a bench outside a seminary when two veil-clad persons appeared on the scene and opened fire on him. Zeeshan died on the spot.

A passerby, Muhammad Hanif, suffered injuries during firing and was admitted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital where his condition is stated to be out of danger. It is learnt that the deceased was a nominated accused in an attack on PPP (Parliamentarian) former secretary-general Puppoo Tathearul Hassan, who was targeted about two months ago.

A case was registered against Zeeshan, who went missing after the attack and was seen in the city only for few days. Deceased's father Munir Ahmad expressed his ignorance about the killers. Kotwali police have instituted a case against two unidentified men and recovered veil from the spot. The body was handed over to his parents after postmortem.
