SIALKOT, Sept 16: The district government wants to shift the two centuries old railway station to the suburban area of Adalatgarh. This was stated by Sialkot district Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid while talking to newsmen here on Thursday.

He said the district government has sent a proposal to the Punjab government for seeking approval from the railways. He said the district government planned to shift the station to minimize the traffic rush in the city created by the level crossings. All possible facilities would be provided to the passengers at the new railway station, he concluded.

MEDICAL COLLEGE: The district government has urged the provincial government to immediately release Rs100 million grant promised for the construction of Sialkot Medical College.

Sialkot district Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid said at a meeting of the District Advisory Committee that some Gujrat and Gujranwala based "opportunists" were creating hurdles in the establishment of medical college. Actually they wanted to set up the college in Gujrat, he claimed.

He claimed that the district government spent Rs1.8 million on the preparation of feasibility report of the project. He said Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool had inaugurated the medical college in 2002. Since then no work on the project had been done.

SCCI: The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry has designed a plan to establish an export display centre on a three-kanal tract adjacent to the SCCI.

SCCI President Tahir Majeed Kapur told newsmen that the main aim of establishing the centre was to provide opportunities to the foreigners to find export-quality products.
