BAHAWALPUR, Sept 15: Kotwali police on Wednesday arrested the third accused, a relative of zoo contractor Ghulam Hussain, in the alleged food poisoning case.

Ghulam Abbas was taken into custody by police after he regained conscious at the Bahawal Victoria Hospital. Earlier, canteen contractor Ghulam Husain and vendor Sajjad Hussain had been handed over to the police by curator Mian Naseem Ahmed on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, of the 35 affected people, the 10 under treatment were discharged from the hospital on Wednesday. The chemical examiner, Multan, has not so far sent the result of the food stuff dispatched for laboratory test on Monday.

Police officials are awaiting the laboratory result after which the FIR against the three men will be registered. According to the curator, the fate of the three arrested men depends on the result of the chemical examination.
