ARD, MMA to boycott Senate poll

LAHORE, Sept 13: The ARD and the MMA have decided to boycott Tuesday's Senate seat election, an opposition leader said on Monday.

Rana Sanaullah Khan said PML-N candidate Birjees Tahir would not take part in the contest as the whole process was a farce. The ruling party's candidate is Sardar Mahmood.

The Punjab Assembly is the electoral college for the Senate. The polling will be held at the Assembly secretariat. Rana said the ARD had taken the MMA into confidence and no member of the religious alliance would take part in the process.
