KARACHI: Man killed in road accident

KARACHI, Sept 13: A young motorcyclist died, while another was seriously injured in two road accidents in the city on Monday.

Police said that Riasaat Ali, 45, was on his motorcycle when a speeding minibus of route F-18 knocked him down in Quaidabad.

He was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the minibus escaped from the spot, the police added. Another young man, Murtaza, 33, was going on his motorcycle in North Karachi, when he was hit by an unknown speeding vehicle near UP Mor, police said. The injured was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was stated to be in a serious condition. He was a resident of Korangi No3.

DIES: A cook died of burns he suffered in Shah Faisal Colony, while preparing a wedding feast late on Sunday night. Police said that the victim, Ashiq Husain, was taken to the Civil Hospital, where he died on Monday morning.

BODY FOUND: The body of a seriously wounded man was found from Sector 5-L, North Karachi. Police shifted the seriously wounded man in unconscious condition to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital from where he was referred to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. However, he was pronounced dead on arrival at the JPMC, police added.
