Aziz leaves today for Tajikistan

ISLAMABAD, Sept 12: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will visit Tajikistan from Sept 13 to 14 to represent Pakistan at the 8th summit meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Riaz Khokhar will be accompanying the premier on the tour. Mr Aziz will address the ECO summit on Sept 14 and would attend a luncheon to be hosted by Tajik President Emomali Rahmanove in honour of the visiting heads of member states and governments.

He is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of Turkey, Iran and other Central Asian Republics. According to the official sources, the ECO leaders during the summit will review implementation of the decisions taken at 7th ECO Summit held in Istanbul in October 2002.

They will also discuss measures to further strengthen and promote regional cooperation with special emphasis on the priority areas of trade, transport, communications and energy.
