ARD to relaunch mass contact campaign

Published September 13, 2004

LAHORE, Sept 12: The Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) has decided to relaunch its mass contact drive. Talking to reporters here on Sunday , senior vice-president Nawabzada Mansoor Ali Khan said the schedule for the drive would be decided at an ARD summit meeting to be held in Quetta on Sept 20.

However, he said the drive would be initiated by an address of ARD leaders to various bars. The first such address would be to the Quetta bar on Sept 21. He said the alliance would never cooperate with the MMA unless the latter apologized to the nation for strengthening hands of Gen Pervez Musharraf through the 17th Amendment.

He said the ruling PML's plan to pass resolutions in various assemblies in favour of uniform of Gen Musharraf would tantamount to subversion of the Constitution the punishment for which was a death penalty.

He said Quran Khwani for the late Nawabzada Nasrullah would be held in Madina, Britain, France, Belgium, America, Dubai and Abu Dhabi on his death anniversary on Sept 27. The ceremony in Lahore will be held at the Hamdard Centre.
