ISLAMABAD, Sept 12: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Sunday said that audit plays a very important role in providing good governance. He was talking to the Auditor General of Pakistan , Younas Khan, who met him at the Prime Minister's House today.

The prime minister said the government was currently focusing on better governance through a system of proper checks and balances in all matters especially the financial one.

He said 'Fiscal discipline' was the key to improve governance. The prime minister underscored the importance of the National Assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and complimented it for accelerating the pace of work assigned to it and for improving the quality of audit. -APP
