LAHORE, Sept 7: The Lahore High Court Bar Association on Tuesday protested against the elevation of two Lahore High Court judges to the Supreme Court in violation of the SC decision in the judges case.

Black flags were hoisted on the bar building and lawyers general body meeting, chaired by LHCBA president Ahmad Awais, adopted a resolution which said that the elevation of two LHC judges was in violation of the seniority of judges.

The resolution also referred to the statement of the Chief Justice of Pakistan which said that his recommendations were not respected while elevating the two LHC judges.

KASURI: An election tribunal of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday framed charges against Foreign Minister Khursheed Mahmood Kasuri in an election petition against him.

The tribunal, headed by Justice Syed Jamshed Ali, adjourned till Sept 19 further proceedings of the petition filed by his rival candidate in the October 2002 general elections from Kasur (NA-140), Maulana Mueenuddin Lakhvi, of Jamiat Ahle Hadith.

The tribunal also rejected a plea by the counsel of the foreign minister that the election petition was not maintainable. The petitioner has charged Khursheed Mahmood Kasuri with rigging and corrupt practices in the election.
