HYDERABAD, Sept 3: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad, on Friday announced the result of higher secondary certificate part-II (class-XII) humanities group , both regular and private, annual examination 2004.

Among boys, Fida Hussain, son of Hayat Lund, of the Government S.S. Arts College, Hyderabad, and Mazhar Ali, son of Allah Dino, of the Government HSS Garang Bungalow, Sanghar, secured the first and the second positions by obtaining 770 and 763 marks, respectively.

Amjad Bashir, son of Bashir Zounr, of the Government College Johi and Iqbal, son of Siddique Jat, of the Government college Sanghar shared the third position with 757 marks each.

Gul Naz, daughter of Ilyas Abbasi, Humaira, daughter of Ashraf Arain, of the Government Nazareth Girls College and Bushra, daughter of Ghaffar Rajput, of the Government Girls Degree College, Latifabad-8, secured the first, second and third position with 812, 800 and 782 marks.

The three position holders among girl students secured more marks than boy students. A total number of 15,054 regular and private students, including 5,200 girls, appeared in the humanities group examination out of whom 11,770 including 4,430 girl students were declared successful while result of 62 students were withheld.

The percentage on the whole is 84.17 per cent. The third position holder among girls secured 782 marks while the first position holder among boys obtained 770 marks. The other fact is that not a single student among boy and girl students passed in the A-I grade while only 10 students secured the "A" grade.

An error was also detected through a cursory glance on the result sheet. The name of the college of Iqbal, son of Siddique Jat, who has secured the third position has been mentioned as the Government College, Sanghar, while among top 10 students the name of his college is the Cadet College Sanghar.

ABSENTEE TEACHERS: The EDO education has observed that most of the teachers leave school after simply signing the muster roll. He was presiding over a meeting of heads of schools and colleges and educational officials here on Thursday.

He said qualified staff was available in government institutions when compared to private schools. The meeting was of the view that school timetable was very essential for students and heads of institutions should therefore prepare school time table which should be displayed in every classroom.

The heads of institutions were advised to properly maintain cash book and movement register as well as proper accounts about receipt and utilization of funds.
