BAHAWALPUR, Aug 19: The unscheduled load shedding, tripping and frequent power failure here have made people's life miserable. After the recent two spells of heavy rains in the city, the Mepco could not so far regularize its power supply system.

The residents of different mohallas and localities in the city have to experience long hours of load shedding in the hot and sweltering weather.

Mostly, the power supply is suspended during prayer timings adding to the sufferings of those who fail to offer prayers for want of water. Due to tripping, the electric appliances have also been damaged in many parts of the city.

The people have demanded of the Mepco authority to take appropriate steps for the smooth power supply to consumers. It may be mentioned that during the shutdown on Wednesday, some motorcycles were allegedly taken away as well.

INAUGURATED: District Nazim Tariq Cheema on Thursday inaugurated Satellite Town Madr-i-Millat Park. The park has been completed with an expenditure of Rs4.5 million.

ARREST: District Registration Officer Mushtaq Ali Fareedi claimed on Thursday that police had arrested a man and registered case against another for allegedly possessing identity cards bearing fictitious names. The police have arrested Zulfiqar and instituted a case against Habibullah.
