LAHORE, Aug 10: Data Ganj Bakhsh Town Nazim Khwaja Ahmad Hassaan and Naib Nazim Mian Usman will announce resignation from their offices in protest against political victimization by the provincial government at a press conference here on Wednesday (today).

Mr Hassaan, who has been on leave for the past one week, will preside over a meeting of the Town Municipal Administration after resuming charge of office in the morning and thank the officials for the cooperation extended by them to him during his tenure. Hundreds of councillors will also tender resignations after Mr Hassaan and Mr Usman resignations.

The Punjab Election Authority has not announced a polling plan for recall motion against Mr Usman scheduled for Thursday on receiving information about tendering of resignation by him.

Data Town Council senior presiding officer Riaz Ahmad has, however, convened an extraordinary session of the council on Friday for voting on the no-confidence motion pending against Mr Hassaan.
