PESHAWAR, Aug 8: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazlur Rahman group) has said that elements opposing the proposed Hasba bill should stop criticizing it. This was stated by JUI's spokesman after a meeting of the party's executive committee held here on Saturday.

In a press release issued on Sunday, the JUI spokesman said that the meeting condemned the propaganda by the Western media against Islam and termed it a conspiracy hatched by anti-Islam forces. It asked the West and its media to change its attitude towards Islam.

It appreciated the peace efforts of ulema and lawmakers in Wana and asked the government to lift economic sanctions against the tribesmen and end the operation. The meeting termed the operation in Balochistan a well- orchestrated conspiracy of the US and its allies against the Muslims. It feared that such actions were causing unrest among the people.

The meeting was attended by Maulana Amanullah, Qari Mohammad Abdullah, Amir Nawaz Advocate, Senator Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan, Senator Sahibzada Khalid Jan, MNAs Maulana Attaur Rehman and Shujaul Mulk and Abdul Jalil Jan.

It also convened a meeting of the district-level leaders of the party at Peshawar on Sept 5, to discuss the strategy for the next local bodies elections. A meeting of the lawyers' wing of the JUI would also be held in the city on Sept 28.
