LANDI KOTAL, July 30: Tension gripped Bara tehsil after a religious group occupied a local FM radio station and a private jail of the rival group on Friday.

Armed activists of Tanzim Ihle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (TISWJ) occupied the headquarters of the Tanzim Amr Bilmaroof Wa Nahi Anil Munkir in the Qambarkhel area, its FM radio station and four checkposts in Bara tehsil.

The TISWJ of Pir Abdul Qadir has warned the rival faction to vacate another private jail in Wengary area in the agency and free all the inmates immediately. The two groups had clashed in remote Tirah valley in Khyber Agency which claimed four lives on Monday.

The agency's political authorities have sent a reconciliatory jirga to the remote valley to bring about a truce, but it failed. Reports said that tension increased in the Bara tehsil after gun-totting activists of the TISWJ overpowered the volunteers of the TABWNAM and occupied the check posts.
