LAHORE, July 29: Some national leaders are meeting here on Sunday to explore the possibilities of framing a joint strategy against the incumbent set-up. Former PML president Mian Azhar is hosting the meeting.

The likely participants include former interim prime minister Balakh Sher Mazari, former National Assembly speakers Elahi Bakhsh Soomro and Fakhar Imam, Air Marshal Asghar Khan, former deputy speaker Wazir Ahmad Jogazai, chief justice Syed Sajjad Ali Shah (retired), former MPs Abida Husain, Tariq Chaudhry, Haji Saifullah, Syed Nusrat Ali Shah, Salahuddin Abbasi and Iftikhar Soomro.

Mian Azhar said it was a meeting of a think-tank formed by Asghar Khan, chief of the Qaumi Jamhoori Party, to discuss political problems being faced by the country, and suggest remedies.

He said the forum had already held sessions in Islamabad and Karachi and was now meeting in Lahore. However, a local QJP leader claimed that formation of a new political alliance would also come under discussion at the meeting.
