DERA GHAZI KHAN, July 29: Dozens of women and children of Model Town took out a protest rally and threw traffic out of gear for one hour on Waqar Chowk for supplying contaminated drinking water.

The demonstrators, carrying bottles of polluted drinking water, started their march from Model Town and dispersed peacefully at Waqar Chowk. They also chanted slogans against Tehsil Nazim Aasim Zubair Khosa and Dera Tehsil Municipal Administration.

The protests against the contaminated water are being held regularly in the all the three tehsils of Dera Ghazi Khan. It was the second protest rally held by the residents of Model Town. The protesters also refused to listen to the speech of Naib Tehsil Nazim Khalid Rauf.

Talking to newsmen later in the evening at the residence of Mirza Idrees, MNA Meena Jaafar Leghari demanded a master plan for the provision of clean drinking water to the dwellers of Dera Ghazi Khan.

BOOKED: B-Division police on Thursday registered a case against the JUI and JTI leaders on the report of Eidgah Bachao Committee convener Shahab Din Alvi. As per reports, two groups had fallen out a few days ago. Police have registered a case against Ramzan Bhatti, Zubair Bhatti, Qari Jamal Abdul Nasir, Mian Abdul Rehman and Saifullah.
