Release of farms tenants sought

Published July 27, 2004

ISLAMABAD, July 26: Activists of the People's Rights Movement (PRM) and All Pakistan Alliance for Kutchi Abadis, accompanied by a group of human rights activists, staged a protest demonstration outside the Parliament House against alleged atrocities being committed by paramilitary forces in Okara military farms.

They also demanded immediate release of over a dozen landless tenants of the farms jailed under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) act in a dubious manner over the weekend.

Students, teachers, kutchi abadi dwellers and a representative of Anjuman Mazarain Punjab (AMP) were also present on the occasion. They held banners and placards demanding an end to 'state terror'.
