MANSEHRA, July 23: The budget of the Mansehra tehsil council which was passed immediately after its presentation on July 20, was again presented and approved by a hurriedly-called session here on Thursday.

The covering of the session was kept secret for reasons yet to be announced. However, sources said that the session was called to appease women members of the council who were demanding equal share in the development funds.

The sources claimed that the women members, under a secret deal, were appeased by offering a trip to tourist resorts of Shogran and Naran in Kaghan valley and Rs50,000 each as 'recreation grant'.

The sources said that after having been lured by the offer, the women members of the council agreed to vote in favour of the approval of the budget and to support all acts of tehsil nazim and his group.

The sources alleged that the budget was got approved from the council in such a hurry because it was fraught with mistakes and lacunas as it had been prepared to benefit a group of nazims, contractors and officials of Tehsil Municipal Administration having exclusive control on the resources of the council.
