Growers stage sit-in for water

KHAIRPUR, May 22: Growers of Samaj Minor, Hingorja, along with the elected members of Union Council Rasoolabad, staged a sit-in on Hingorja-Deparja link road here on Wednesday to protest against non-availability of water according to water rotation programme.

Some of the protesters — Sajan, Ghulam Shabbir, Nabi Bux, Ghous Bux and Rafique — fell unconscious due to severe heat.

Talking to reporters, the growers said that water was not supplied for the last eight months. Meanwhile, growers of Pandharo Wah staged a protest demonstration, with copies of the Holy Quran in their hands, at regulator here on Wednesday.
