PESHAWAR, July 18: Polling for by-elections on six vacant seats of union council nazimeen and naib nazimeen were held in four districts of the NWFP on Sunday. These elections were held in Swabi, Haripur, Lakki Marwat and Swat.

Polling started at 8am and continued till 5pm. Counting of votes was still in progress till the filing of this report. Nazims of Charsadda, Chitral and Dera Ismail Khan union councils and naib nazim of Shangla and Charsadda were elected unopposed.

Elections for union council nazim and naib nazim at Kalo Khan in Swat district were suspended by the court. No candidate had filed nomination papers for the post of the nazim of the Manneri union council in Swabi. -APP
