KHAIRPUR, July 14: The cotton crop in the district, particularly in Thari Mirwah and Kingri talukas, is under an attack of unidentified disease.

Talking to newsmen on Wednesday, the growers from different areas alleged that officials of the Sindh agriculture department were not cooperating with them despite their repeated requests to rectify the situation.

They said that the growers had recklessly restored to pesticides available in the market but of no avail. They said that the disease had stunted the growth of plants in the affected areas.

BOOKED: Some twelve growers were booked by the Sobhodero police on the charges of water theft on Wednesday. Darogho Khadim Panhwar stated in the FIR that the accused had tempered with their watercourses on the Hamir-ji-Shakh in Sobhodero taluka. Those booked include Muneer Khuhro, Asad Kalhoro, Riaz Khaskheli, Ilyas Narejo, Lal Bux Khaskheli, Juman Khuhro, Razzaq Kori, Juman Kalhoro and Sattar Kalhoro.
