TANK, July 12: Tank police arrested 26 proclaimed offenders and recovered arms and ammunition during a 15-day campaign against the anti-social elements in the district.

Mohammad Hanif, a spokesman of the police department while talking to APP on Monday said that Tank police during various raids arrested 26 proclaimed offenders who were wanted by police for different crimes of a heinous nature, and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession during the last 15 days.

He also said that the concerned people in police department were ascertaining the various categories of arms and ammunition, and their details would be made available in due course.

KIDNAPPED GIRL RECOVERED: Tank Police recovered an abducted girl and arrested four persons in a raid on their hideout here on Monday. According to the FIR lodged with the police, one Qadir Bakhsh of Ranwal village stated that he and his sister (H) were at their home the other day when five accused namely Hussain Bakhsh, Fazal Rehman, Gul Janan, Dilawar and Zafar Zaman including a cousin, entered their home at about 8:45 a.m and forcibly abducted his sister.

He further elaborated that his sister was a fiancee of Rehmatullah for the last many years and his marriage was delayed due to certain reasons. Police have registered the case after arresting four persons involved in the abduction case while one is still at large.

POLIO CAMPAIGN: District Coordination Officer Tank Syed Muhsin Shah has emphasized that collective efforts were required in the district to eradicate polio, and asked all the quarters concerned to speed up their efforts for making the polio eradication drive successful in the district.

He was speaking at a meeting at his office on Monday to take stock of the three-day polio drive. EDO Health Dr. Muzzafar Kundi told the meeting that during the polio drive starting from July 13, 141 mobile teams and 25 centres would carry out this task.

The participants also deliberated upon the problems which occurred during the previous polio drive. Speaking on the occasion DCO Syed Muhsin Shah appealed to the parents to make the polio drive successful by bringing their children up to five years of age, for vaccination. -APP
