KARACHI, July 9: An Anti-Terrorism Court in Karachi, headed by Judge Aley Maqbool Rizvi, indicted three activists of the banned Harkatul Mujahideen Al-Alami for their alleged involvement in eight explosive cases pertaining to bomb blasts in petrol pumps in Karachi.

Sumairullah, Mohammad Khalid and Mohammad Atif denied charges levelled against them by prosecution and claimed themselves innocent. They were arrested, among others, in March 2004 in Macedonian consulate killing case and during interrogation they admitted their involvement in bomb explosions at shell petrol pumps located in different areas in Karachi on May 15, 2003.

They were booked in Section 3,4 of Explosives Act in different police stations. The judge who is conducting trial in central jail Karachi fixed July 14 for recording evidence against the accused.

Special Public Prosecutor Abdul Waheed Khan appeared on behalf of state while M R Syed, advocate, represented the defence side. -PPI
