RIYADH, July 1: A Filipino man suspected to be involved in last week's murder of two Pakistani women in the Seder village residential compound in Riyadh has been found dead.

The man, identified as Don David Prado, 45, is believed to have committed suicide. Police had been looking for him since June 24, when the double murder took place.

His body was found in a car in the city's Al Rawdah district. Pakistani Ambassador Abdul Aziz Mirza told Arab News that "the preliminary identification done by police with the help of Seder Village employees and friends of the victims' family has established that the body recovered from a deserted area of the capital was that of the Filipino suspect".

"But," the ambassador added, "final reports about the identity of the suspect is still awaited." "Police have informed that the suspect killed himself and to my understanding, police have also told the Philippine embassy about the recovery of the body of the suspect," the ambassador added.

Philippine Ambassador Bahnarim Guinomla said: "I have asked my embassy staff to go to Shomaysi Hospital and check the body." But he declined to say anything more because of the sensitivity of police investigation.

Pervez Junejo, community welfare attache at the Pakistan embassy, said police investigations might be wrapped up once it was established that the Filipino was the murderer of Amina Abdullah, 28, and her mother-in-law, Amina Nuzhat Usman, 55.

"The bodies of the two women were flown to Karachi by a Saudi flight on Thursday," said Mr Junejo. On Wednesday, funeral prayers for the women were held at Rabwa Mosque here and were attended by a number of Pakistanis living here.

The bodies of the victims had multiple stab wounds. The motive behind the murders is still a mystery because it is believed that it was not a terrorist attack. It was not a case of robbery either because nothing was taken away from the house.
