MULTAN, June 30: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education declared the results of the secondary school certificate examination, 2004, on Wednesday. As many as 68,782 candidates appeared in the examination under the new pattern (part system) and all were declared successful.

On the other hand, some 15,399 took the examination under old pattern (composite system). Of them, 7,226 were declared successful with 46.9 per cent. Among the overall position-holders, Hafiz Mahmood Ahmad of the Government M C Model High School, Burewala (Vehari) clinched the top position by securing 788 marks.

Muhammad Azhar of Tabinda Model High School, Burewala, and Tahreem Rasheed of the Nishat Girls High School (Multan) shared the second position with 786 marks. Abdul Waheed of the Government High School, Jehanian, (Khanewal) got third position by scoring 784 marks.

All the top position-holders among boys and girls belonged to the science group. Among boys in the general group, Abeadur Rahman of Adda Kassowal, Chichawatni (Sahiwal) notched first position with 672 marks while Allah Ditta of the Government High School, 69/12-L, (Sahiwal) second with 658 marks.

Ansar Abbas of the Government High School Mankot (Khanewal), Muhammad Sajjad of the Government High School, 34/EB Arifwala, (Pakpattan) and Sajid Ali the Government High School, 97/6-R, (Sahiwal) shared the third position with 655 marks.

Among girls in the general group, Amna Batool of the Naukhez Model Girls High School (Multan) clinched first position with 723 marks while Asma Usman of the Government MC Junior Model School (Sahiwal) and Hira Saleem of the Government Binatul Islam High School (Sahiwal) stood second and third by securing 720 and 707 marks, respectively.
