ISLAMABAD, June 28: The government will announce a scheme in the trade policy 2004-05 for capacity building of credible manufacturers and potential exporters.

A commerce ministry official told Dawn on Monday that under the proposed scheme appropriate manufacturers might be identified, who would be attached with officers from the Export Promotion Bureau for improving capacity in their products.

Each officer will be allocated two to five such entrepreneurs in the same product category, added the official. "These officers will act as resource persons or business counsellors to these individuals and guide them through till they have become exporters."

They will also help the allocated entrepreneurs in getting information from Smeda and other government agencies and guide them on financing and other business matters. The officers who have succeeded in their task of developing new exporters may be rewarded cash prizes, added the official.
