PESHAWAR, June 23: Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti, former provincial president of the PPP, has termed unemployment the root cause of social problems and urged the government to eradicate it.

According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, speaking at a public meeting in Bonair, he said unemployment was on the rise and the government should put more efforts to create jobs for the people.

Mr Hoti condemned the killing of Munnawar Suharwardi in Karachi, but advised people not to adopt destructive ways to protest against such incidents. All political parties should work in the best interest of the nation, he added.

Mr Hoti also criticized the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, saying that those political leaders who had come into power in the name of Quran and Islam had not fulfilled their promises made with the people.

They were more interested in serving their vested interests than solving the problems of the masses, he said. He said that though he had quit the office of the NWFP PPP, but was still working as a party worker.
