LANDI KOTAL, June 22: Authorities in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency arrested three outlaws after an armed encounter with Khasadar force on Tuesday. The three were allegedly involved in the abduction of a Christian leaders Yasin Masih who was kidnapped from Bara last month.

The Bara political administration, after receiving a tip-off, raided the house of Khana Gul in Shalobar area. Sensing danger, the three occupants of the house opened fire on the khasadar force.

The cross-firing continued for more than one hour and later the Khasadars arrested the three outlaws. One of the outlaws, Munir Zakhakhel was injured in the shootout. Another accused was identified as Qudratullah Malikdinkhel. The detained outlaws were later shifted to the Bara lock-up.

ROAD BLOCKED: Drivers in Bara on Tuesday blocked the Bara- Peshawar road to protest the removal of cassette players from their vehicles by activists of recently-formed Bara peace committee.

The peace committee had launched a campaign against playing of music in public transport throughout Bara. The move was resisted by owners and drivers of buses plying on various routes in Bara.

To register their anger over what the bus drivers and owners described an unjustified act of the committee, they staged a sit-in in front of the political tehsildar and blocked the road. The administration assured the drivers to look into the matter.
