BANNU, June 21: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Bannu, has allowed students from Wana who failed to take some papers during the secondary school certificate (SSC) examination due to the military operation in South Waziristan , to appear in the supplementary examination in September.

A special permission had been granted to 171 students of class nine, who missed a couple of papers due to the operation, to appear in the supplementary examination, officials said on Monday, quoting the results gazette.

Normally, the students who appear in the SSC part-I examination are not allowed to appear in the supplementary examination. The affected students have been issued provisional results and promoted to the next grade but they will have to clear the papers in the supplementary examination.

Another 34 students who failed to appear in some SSC part-II papers will have to clear the papers in the supplementary examination. It was unclear whether the SSC part-II students would be allowed to take admission to colleges.

According to BISE Assistant Controller of Examination Inamullah Khan, a notification has been issued by the NWFP governor so that the academic year of the students could be saved.

He suggested that colleges should give provisional admissions to those SSC part-II students who suffered due to the operation. The admissions should be regularized when the students clear the papers in the supplementary examination, he added. The operation affected the students of two girls and one boys school.
