HARIPUR, June 14: Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Finance Omar Ayub Khan has said that more than Rs300 million are being spent on development schemes, including roads, electricity, telephone and Sui gas supply , in the under developed areas of the PF-49 constituency.

This he said while speaking to participants at the opening ceremony of extension scheme of Khoe Nara 11kv electricity feeder, some 15 kilometres from here on Monday.

Pesco Manager Operations Rana Anwarul Hasan, Deputy Manager Said Ghaffar, Khanpur Union Council Nazim Raja Zeshan Kiyani and others were also present. The Khoe Nara feeder was separated from the feeder of Suraj Gali of Khanpur sub-division and would be completed within three months.

The project would cost Rs5.451 million and is expected to benefit 5,800 consumers. Expressing his resolve to provide basic amenities to the neglected and under developed areas of Haripur, Mr Khan said that work on Rs260 million Ghazi project would be inaugurated on July 12, while a gas pipeline project from Jandial to Mamrial was underway.

He lashed out at the district government for what he termed its failure to maintain law and order, adding that cases of murder and robbery were on the rise, but police played the role of a silent spectator.
