SHC: The Sindh High Court has set aside an order of the Sindh government to remove the chairman of the District Public Safety Commission, Badin, and ordered his reinstatement.

The DPSC chief, Dr Abdul Aziz Memon, had filed a petition in the principal seat of the SHC in Karachi against a notification of Feb 25, removing him from the post.

CANAL BREACH: A 20-feet breach occurred in Golarchi Minor at Chak-36 and inundated 60 acres of lands and some houses on Thursday. According to villagers, the cause of the spillage was the inferior desilting work carried out by the irrigation department, which had rendered banks of the water channel too weak to face pressure of water flow.

They said that it was third breach in the water channel in two weeks and the breaches had occurred when it flowed little quantity of water to be used only for drinking purpose. They feared more breaches when water in sufficient quantity would be restored in the channel for irrigation purpose.

ESCAPE: An under trial prisoner, Abdul Karim, fled from the premises of a court here on Thursday. He is an activist of the Pakistan People's Party (Shaheed Bhutto) and was brought to the court of the judicial magistrate for a hearing of his case.
