RAWALPINDI, June 11: The accountability court number III here on Friday extended the physical remand of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Police, Gilgit Range, Mohammad Haneef, for another 14 days.

The judge, Mohammad Aslam, extended the remand of the accused, as the NAB officials wanted to squeeze out some more information from him. Mr Haneef is facing the charges related to the illegal registration of some non-custom paid vehicles.

It is to be mentioned here that the NAB has filed a similar reference against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Gilgit Range, Meer Afzal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Northern Areas, Shaukat Pervez, SSP, Skardu, Fakharullah and a local trader, Tufail Ahmed. However, they were granted interim bail by the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court on June 7.

Meanwhile, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a Rs19 million embezzlement reference against the former chairman of Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), Mohammad Anwar, and his three aides, Aslam Pervez Durrani, Muazzam Rashid and Muzaffar Ahmed with the accountability court number II headed by Justice Sakhi Mohammad.
