ISLAMABAD, June 8: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Tuesday rejected speculations about an in-house change at the centre and told newspersons that any replacement or change of the prime minister "will come under consideration after the year 2007".

At a news conference he addressed at his residence, Chaudhry Shujaat faced a volley of questions on the matter and was asked if Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali was being replaced and if Humayun Akhtar Khan was the likely successor.

When asked if the new prime minister would be from Punjab or from any smaller province, he said: "Ask that question after 2007 when such a thing will happen." When his attention was drawn to numerous reports about changes likely to be made at the centre, Chaudhry Shujaat said: "I have tried to dismiss such reports a hundred times but still they don't stop".

Commenting on reports about differences between him and President General Pervez Musharraf and also between him and the president's top aide, Tariq Aziz, the PML chief said: "I have no differences of any kind with the president nor my relations of 40 years with Tariq Aziz can go sour so easily".

CONSENSUS: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said that Pakistan Muslim League has always believed in politics of consensus and accommodation and vowed to uphold same principles in future, adds APP.

He was talking to Dr Sher Afgan Khan Niazi, MNA, who called on him at his chamber in the Parliament House on Tuesday. The prime minister reiterated the commitment to give every possible relief to the people and to improve their standard of living.

Dr Sher Afgan discussed various development schemes for his constituency. The Chairman, Standing Committee on Culture, Sports, Tourism & Youth Affairs, MNA Rai Azizullah Khan, also called on the prime minister.

Apart from discussing development schemes for natural gas, electricity and roads for his constituency, he requested financial support for families of the blast victims of Harapa-Sahiwal that claimed six precious lives.

Earlier, PML leader Syed Kabir Ali Wasti called on the prime minister. They discussed measures for improving party organization and streamlining the party cadres at all levels. Syed Kabir Ali Wasti also thanked the prime minister for visiting his residence.
