KARACHI, June 1: Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bokhari paid a detailed visit to the newly constructed building of a mono-technique institute in Sector 7-C, Orangi Town.

He was accompanied by MQM MPAs Syed Akhtarul Iqbal Qadri and Abdul Qudoos. Sindh Board of Technical Education chairman Dr Sarwar Ahmed Shaikh was also present on the occasion. Talking to newsmen on the spot, the minister said that the institute for information technology, textile designing and printing was the first vocational institute in the town.

He directed the board chairman and principal of the institute to arrange admissions in the institute on merit in the morning and the evening shifts. He said that a three-year textile dyeing and printing diploma should also be introduced from the next year to benefit the people of Orangi Town and Qasba Colony.

He said that a state-of-the-art lab had been established to impart computer and information technology training. To cater the electricity needs of the institute, a separate PMT had been installed, he added.

Shoaib Bokhari said that this was the second institute of textile, dyeing and printing in the entire province, which was equipped with modern machinery. The first mono-technique institute was opened in Landhi last year, he added. -PPI
