TOBA TEK SINGH, May 23: Hundreds of thousands of poultry birds perished in the scorching heat here during the last one week. A spokesman for poultry farms association told newsmen here on Sunday that farmers had sustained a great financial loss as a result.

At present, chicken is being sold in the market at Rs120 per kilogram - the highest price of the commodity during the last three years.

TWO INJURED: Six dacoits shot at and injured two farmers on facing resistance here on Saturday night. The bandits forced their entry into a farmhouse at Chak 187 and opened fire on Aslam and Kamran.

The injured were admitted to the DHQ hospital from where doctors referred them to the Faisalabad Allied Hospital.

CASH LOOTED: Five dacoits snatched Rs526,000 from a trader here on Saturday night. Muhammad Ashraf was on his way to his village by car after making recoveries from shopkeepers. Near the Pacca Anna Railway Station, he was intercepted by the bandits, who had been following him in a car.
