RAWALPINDI, May 21: Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader Chaudhry Tanveer eluded a police party which had come to arrest him on Thursday night, an official source said.

Several attempts have been made by the law enforcement agencies to take ex-MPA Chaudhry Tanveer into custody since Shahbaz Sharif episode. Detention orders of Chaudhry Tanveer had been issued by the provincial government, but he was somehow eluding the arrest.

On Thursday night, the police, on a tip-off, raided a hotel on The Mall Saddar in which Mr Tanveer was present. However, he managed to escape in another car while the police kept waiting for him near his vehicle, the source said.

Meanwhile, Asif Ahmed told Ganjmandi police that five armed persons entered his office and snatched Rs80,000 in cash, a mobile telephone and a car (Karachi-5061) from a customer, Ibrar Asif.

Malik Sohail lodged a complaint with Banni police saying that he had parked his car (IDF-7046) outside a mosque. When he returned after offering his prayer, he found his car stolen. Israr Ahmed Malik's car was stolen from outside a hospital in the Civil Line area while Abdul Saeed's car (IDM-5580) was lifted from Saddar.
