SWABI, May 16: Textbooks of different classes are still in short supply in the market despite the passage of 46 days of the new academic year. The shortage has badly affected students of primary classes.

One main reason of the shortage of books in the market is free distribution of textbooks in the public sector primary schools. The teachers have also repeatedly demanded of the authorities concerned to make arrangements for the supply of books. However, their appeals ended up unheard.

The teachers say that they want to cover large part of syllabus before the commencement of summer vacation to enable the students to make for any deficiency created by the non-availability of textbooks.

Officials said they had informed the authorities concerned but despite the repeated assurances they were still waiting for the supply of books. Free medical camps: SWABI, May 16: The Pakistan Tobacco Company (PTC) has organized two free mobile medical camps and provided free of cost medicines to the patients in the tobacco growing areas of the district.

The location of the camps was the madressah of Maulana Hamidullah Jan of Dagi and Polodand in the Salim Khan locality, said a press issued here on Sunday. Dr Pervez Khan of PTC examined about 300 patients in the two localities and the company distributed medicines the patients.
