SHIKARPUR, May 11: The inhabitants of Daro, Mirzanpur and New Amrote villages held a demonstration near Daro village on the Lakhi-Naudero road on Monday to protest against suspension of power supply to their villages over the past 12 days.

The protesters burnt tyres on the road and demanded that power supply to the villages should be immediately restored. The road was re-opened after two hours on the intervention of Garhi Yasin Taluka Nazim Najaf Khan Kamario and the Madeji TPO as well as assurance by the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company SDO.

BODIES: The Shikarpur police have failed to recover bodies of two young girls, who were shot dead a week ago on the pretext of Karo-kari and their bodies buried at some unknown place.

Complainant Fazaluddin Bhutto, brother of deceased Tehmina, 17, and cousin of Abida, 18, has alleged that the police are adopting delaying tactics in recovering the bodies and arresting the remaining accused to enable them to approach influential people for support.

He said that the girls were killed despite their parents' plea to spare them as they were innocent. Saying that one of the arrested accused had confessed to the killing, Fazaluddin appealed to the authorities to ensure recovery of the bodies and arrest of the six absconders.
