QUETTA, April 28: The nine teachers, who observed hunger-strike for 20 days, ended their protest when Chief Minister Jam Mohammad Yousuf offered juice glasses to them in the jail ward of the Civil Hospital and accepted their demands.
The chief minister, accompanied by Media Adviser Razziq Bugti who played an important role to bring the government and the protestors closer, assured Government Teachers Association President Haji Abdul Ghaffar Gadazai that matters would be presented before a cabinet meeting.
The nine teachers had wanted to establish a camp of hunger strike unto death in the union office situated in the education directorate on April 5 but the police arrested them on the very first day and detained them in Quetta district jail. They were later shifted to the jail ward in the hospital.
