MIRPURKHAS, April 21: A youth was killed and his mother and sister were injured as a speedy car hit their bicycle on the Mirwah Road in Satellite Town here on Tuesday. Adnan, 18, his mother Zahida Parveen and sister Khadija were going to visit a doctor when the car hit their bicycle and injured them.

They were rushed to the Civil Hospital from where Adnan was referred to Hyderabad in precarious condition but he died before reaching there. Police registered a case against unidentified car driver who had fled.

In another incident, a man was killed and another injured when they jumped from a truck tie-rod of which had broken. The truck was going to Umerkot from Chhachhro when one of its occupants told others that its tie-rod had broken.

In the ensuing panic, Sono Kolhi and Khero jumped from the truck and sustained injuries. They were being taken to taluka hospital, Umerkot, but Sono died before reaching there. Khero was admitted to the hospital.

HUNGER STRIKE: A group of local councillors, including women, observed a token hunger strike here on the second consecutive day on Wednesday to protest against unsanitary conditions of the city.
