Farhan shocks Yasir

LAHORE, April 19: The Asian junior champion Farhan Mehboob (PAF), who is ranked fifth, stunned second seed Yasir Butt (Punjab) to qualify for the final of the Faysal Bank National Junior squash championship under-19 event at the Punjab Squash Complex on Monday.

Farhan will meet Khalid Atlas (Army) in the final on Tuesday. Khalid, the top seed, defeated Basit Ashfaq (CAA) 9-3, 6-9, 9-2, 5-9, 9-5 in 65 minutes. Farhan fought for 80 minutes to beat Yasir 10-8, 1-9, 9-10, 9-8, 9-6.

The semifinals of the boys' U-13, 15 and 17 were also decided. Meanwhile, the prefinals of girls in Under-13, 15, 17 and 19 were also held.

All the finals will be played on Tuesday.

Girls. Under-19: Misbah Rani bt Zeba Pervaiz 9-0, 10-8, 9-1; Sara Awan bt Saima Shaukat 9-7, 9-4, 9-2.

Under-17: Gul Zaman Khan bt Mehwish Hanif 9-3, 5-9, 9-2, 9-6; Alya Sarfraz got walkover against Shazia Rashid.

Under-15: Zoya Khalid bt Binish Khan 9-1, 9-1, 9-2; Amina Mehboob bt Sara Sharif 9-2, 9-1, 9-1.

Under-13: Roshna Mehboob bt Anika Awan 9/0, 9/6, 9/4; Ana Batool bt Samar Anjum 9/1, 9/1, 9/2.
