LONDON, April 18: Shane Warne led from the front with five wickets for Hampshire on the second day of their County Championship match against Durham at the Rose Bowl on Saturday.

The Australian leg-spin great, now Hampshire captain, took five for 68 as Durham were bowled out for 201 in the Second Division match. That left Warne's men needing a mere 109 for victory but at stumps they were 13 for two with Durham still in the game.

Elsewhere, in the opening round matches, former West Indies captain Carl Hooper showed his class with 115 for Lancashire in their First Division match away to Northamptonshire. At The Oval, defending champions Sussex made 445 for nine in reply to Surrey's 304, a lead of 141, with captain Chris Adams scoring 101.
