PESHAWAR, April 15: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has said that education is the most crucial factor for sustainable development of a society, nation and a country. Addressing the convocation of the Gomal University, D.I. Khan, on Wednesday, he said advanced societies had proved this fact beyond any doubt.
In charge Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr Attaur Rehman and Gomal University Vice-Chancellor Wazirzada Mohammad Idrees Khan were among those who spoke on the occasion. As many as 125 gold medals were conferred on the students of 1994 to 2003 sessions.
The governor said under the present scenario of knowledge explosion, information technology and computer science, education sector had got an additional significance. There were rapid changes which had posed challenges for developing societies, which needed to rise up to the occasion, he further said.
Among all resources, he observed, human capital was the most important and its development vital. "It is top priority of the the country." The governor congratulated the students who were conferred gold medals and degrees.
