KARACHI, April 15: The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation is engaged in improving its operating procedures, particularly of billing. According to a KESC spokesman, the work to improve power transmission and distribution system was also in progress at a targeted speed in consultation with the elected representatives.

During the last two years, the spokesman elaborated, KESC devised and floated a number of relief packages for payment of long overdue electricity bills. Meter testing was made transparent and mobile teams were now checking meters in the presence of consumers.

According to him, the procedure for correction of electricity bills had also been simplified and instalment facility to a maximum of 30 is also being practised for the benefit of low-income group.

He said that keeping in view the dissatisfaction and delay in correction of disputed electricity bills, the SDOs of the restructured centres were directed to immediately process such bills and forward the same to the competent authority for speedy correction of the bills. -APP
